BEGOÑA AUTRIQUE
Begoña Autrique (1990, Mexico City) is a Mexican artist who has lived in different cities around the world including Hong Kong, Brussels, Madrid, Monterrey, and Mexico City. This has allowed her to experience different cultures, traditions, and lifestyles that have shaped her life and her art practice. She now lives in Mexico City with her husband and her three young children.
She started painting from a very young age inspired by her grandmother Graciela Benassini, a renowned Mexican artist. This creative inspiration allowed Begoña to develop the ability to express herself through art and become the artist she is today.
In her practice Begoña has worked with a variety of materials and mediums, from painting to sculpting. Curiosity is part of her nature, and in early 2020, she taught herself to work with different materials and new methods to express her ideas. This new style is distinctive in its form and process. She discovered plastic as a canvas, pairing it with the thermodynamic process, to create truly unique pieces. Each finished painting carries a degree of uncertainty which makes her work interesting, fun and challenging.
